 Running Cedar’s 2009 Calendar of Events
In addition to the exciting activities listed below, some weekends will include Bingo on either Friday or Saturday evening, “Hayless” Wagon Rides, and Fun Flix Movies/Matinees. We also have horseshoe pits, volleyball, badminton, and walking trails available for our guests. We occasionally have a small fee for some of our crafts or activities, but we try to keep the majority of our events free or very inexpensive so that the whole family can participateJ
April 3-5 Welcome Back Weekend The grass is getting greener and the flowers are starting to bud. We welcome the spring season and our guests back this weekend with free coffee and donuts Saturday morning and some special “welcome back” prizes at Bingo Saturday evening. April 17-19 Easter “Eggs”travaganza (We re-scheduled this weekend from Easter to allow everyone to spend time with family) Easter) Enjoy opening weekend with family-fun events: Easter Egg Hunt, Egg Toss, Bunny Hop Relay, and more. Bring a potluck dish and join fellow campers for a night of good food. The Three Nails concert has been postponed unitl later in the Spring. Check back for the new date soon. The Great RCRV Egg Hunt! April 24-26 Earth Day Jubilee We will celebrate nature this weekend with crafts ($), a community campfire complete with stories, songs, s’mores and an evening flashlight hike for the kids. Campfire Songs May 2 1st Annual Altavist Quilt Festival -Sponsered by the Altavista Chamber of Commerce. May 8-10 Mother’s Day Weekend Make a special gift for mom. Compete in mother/child Blongo tournament. Enter a raffle for a great Mother’s Day Basket! Ladies, come pamper yourself with a little “ME” time. Massages available ($) *Runners may participate in Gretna’s 5K Race on May 9th. Moms, are you up for the challenge? May 22-25 MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND Kick off summer. Join fellow campers in a volleyball tournament; compete in Horseshoe tournament, and more, followed by a Hot Dog Roast at the Activity Center. Karaoke (bring CDs if you have any) with ice cream social ($) on Sunday night. June 5-7 UNCLE BILLY’S DAY WEEKEND Come and enjoy Altavista’s annual Uncle Billy’s Day. Fun entertainment for the whole family: crafts, music, rides, great food and fireworks at English Park! Join us at Running Cedar for a Pancake Breakfast before heading off for a day of fun at Uncle Billy’s Day. June 19-21 Fit for a King! Father’s Day Weekend It’s a great time for Dads n’ kids to get out on Leesville Lake to do some fishing together! Dad/kids participate in some friendly competition! Bring the family for some good ole’ barbecue/hotdogs ($). (Dads eat free.) July 3-5 All-American Family 4th of July Weekend Join us for some good old-fashion fun: balloon toss, sack races, 3-legged race, spoon race, and more! Decorate your site in red, white, and blue. Prize awarded for the best Decorated Site! Bring your Super-Soaker Water guns for water events that guarantee to get you wet, Super Soaker Hayride, Cash Bingo ($). July 10-12 Dog Days of Summer It’s Fido’s turn to shine this weekend! Lots of dog-gone good fun awaits you and your pets. Test your pet’s skills at the Bark Park obstacle course. Participate in a pooch parade, look-alike contest, best dressed and a Great American Hog Dog Roast ($) at Bingo Saturday evening. August 7-9 Survivor Africa, China, Australia…Survivor comes to Running Cedar! Can you outwit, outplay, and outlast other contestants in a Fire Building Contest, or a Scavenger Hunt. What about shooting poison-tipped darts, or jumping into the crashing waves of the pool as you dive for hidden treasures? Will you be the last Survivor standing? Aug. 21-23 Kids’ Last Blast It’s our 1st annual “back-to-school” blues-buster weekend! A Pizza Party ($) with games, such as Guitar Hero & Jeopardy and an evening swim with music (Bring your own CDs!) are sure to bring a smile to all of our camper kids as we celebrate the beginning of the school year. Candy Bar Bingo! Parents are allowed to join with kid’s permission, of course! Sept. 4-7 Labor Day No work allowed! Take another round at Wii Bowling and Rock BandJ Join us for a Saturday night dance and cookout (hotdogs). Please bring a side dish to share with fellow campers. Sept. 18-20 Family Feud Fun Can your family handle a little friendly competition? Games will be held throughout the weekend: Family Feud, Badminton, Wii Bowling Tournament, Rock Band & Karaoke Contests to name a few. Does your family have what it takes? Oct 2-4 Running Cedar Goes West Round ‘em Up, Cowboys! Campfire sing-a-longs, best dressed competition, Texas Hold-em, wagon rides, horseshoes, fun games for the kids! Oct 16-18 Oktoberfest Enjoy the fall with a good old-fashion pig roast ($)! Live music to celebrate the harvest time! Play volleyball, horseshoes, and more with fellow campers. Oct 23-25 Have a Haunting Halloween at Running Cedar Fun will be had by all at our Halloween festival with lots of great games and activities for kids of all ages. Everyone can join the fun for the costume contest and Resort-wide trick-or-treating! Our Halloween site-decorating contest is sure to bring some ghostly light to the campground! *Activities and events are subject to change based on weather and participation.
