Winter Campground Policies

  1. When the temperature is forecast to be at or below 32° F, you MUST turn off the water hydrant, and disconnect your water hose from the hydrant, when not actively using your water. Actively using is defined as water flowing through the hydrant and hose.
  2. You may leave the water hydrant on, if the forecasted temperature will be between 21° F and 32° F, only if WE install pipe heating cable on the water hydrant, and if you use a heated water hose. Guests may NOT make any modifications to or install anything on campground-owned equipment, including water hydrants.
  3. When the temperature is forecast to be at or below 20° F, you MUST turn off the water hydrant, and disconnect your water hose from the hydrant. We will go through the campground, and turn off any water hydrants that are still on, and disconnect hoses from the hydrants. We will also turn off the main water supply, to help protect our systems. If the temperatures remain that cold for several days, we may have scheduled times that we will turn on water (likely during daytime hours). Please check at the office for more information.
  4. The bathhouse and/or laundry may be closed during very cold weather.
  5. The Virginia Department of Health does not allow waste water to drain onto the ground, and a broken sewer hose, due to freezing and bursting, will cause that to happen. The registered guest is responsible for any fines or penalties associated with waste water going onto the ground.
